East Harbor Seafood Palace, tucked away at 714 65th St in Brooklyn, is a captivating destination for lovers of authentic Chinese seafood and dim sum. This bustling eatery serves an extensive menu that artfully blends traditional Cantonese flavors with the freshness of ocean treasures, creating a truly memorable dining experience.
From the moment you step inside, the lively yet warm atmosphere sets the tone for communal dining and indulgence. Weekends burst with energy as the iconic dim sum carts gracefully weave through the dining room, offering favorites like Shumai, Shrimp Dumplings, and Fried Seafood Rolls with Mayonnaise Sauce. If you visit on a weekday evening, the pace feels more relaxed, allowing for a leisurely exploration of East Harbor’s impressive seafood specialties.
The culinary highlight undoubtedly lies in the masterful handling of seafood dishes. The Alaskan King Crab, often split into three exquisitely prepared courses, delights with its tender sweetness and delicate seasoning. The Special Lobster Tail and Sauteed Lobster with Sticky Rice offer rich, buttery layers contrasting with the subtly fragrant sticky rice, providing a luscious harmony of texture and taste that lingers long after the last bite.
For those seeking classic Cantonese luxury, the Braised Abalone with Chef Special Sauce and Sea Cucumber with Minced Pork exemplify East Harbor’s skillful balance of hearty sauces and fresh, oceanic flavors. Meanwhile, dishes like Scallop with Garlic Vermicelli and Steamed Fresh Oyster with Black Bean Sauce capture the delicate essence of the sea, paired perfectly with subtle aromatics and a touch of spice.
What truly enhances the dining here is the genuine passion mirrored in each dish, complemented by attentive and prompt service. Guests praise the consistently fast turnover and impressive value, especially when sharing large plates like the Crab Meat & Egg Sauce Noodle Soup or the Seafood Stir-Fried Rice Noodles.
One can’t overlook East Harbor’s bustling weekend vibe, where a number system for seating underscores the restaurant’s popularity. Enthusiasts advise arriving early to savor this classic dim sum cart experience or opting for weekday dinners to enjoy the exquisite seafood selection in a calmer setting.
East Harbor Seafood Palace is more than just a restaurant; it is a vibrant celebration of Chinese seafood dining tradition that invites you to savor every bite with delight and anticipation. Whether you're craving the comforting warmth of dim sum or a lavish seafood banquet, this Brooklyn gem promises a feast that is as authentic as it is unforgettable.
I’ve been here a few times on both weekends and weekdays. Weekends are great if you want the classic dim sum cart experience but are busier with wait times and more crowding. Weekdays are better if you’re looking for a casual dinner. The dim sum, fresh seafood, and crab fried rice are all delicious and I will come back for them. Steak based dishes have been hit or miss for me. Definitely recommend coming here for the experience.
Every weekend around noon time, this place is packed with lines going out the door and countless people waiting outside. You have to get a card with an assigned number to be placed in the queue for seating. Wait time could be 30 min+. When you get seated, they will give you a punch card and ask you if you want tea, they have a few flavors to choose from, but I personally recommend the 普洱茶 (pu er tea). After you get the tea, you just wait for the dimsum carts to roll around. Each cart carries different items so keep an eye out for what you like or want to try. Every dish that I got was packed with flavor and was absolutely delicious, but I’d highly recommend getting the beef rib and the chicken feet! They also have a separate menu if you want to try other made-to-order dishes. So let the staff know if that peaks your curiosity. Once you choose your dimsum it goes straight from the cart to your table and they’ll place a stamp on your punch card to denote the cost category of what you just picked up. When you’ve finished eating, ask one of employees that’s wearing a vest to calculate the bill total and take that punch card to the table by the front entrance to pay your bill. Be sure to leave some tip at your dining table for the staff! Having said all of that, this is likely the most flavorful and delicious dimsum place I’ve ever been to!!! Happy Dimsuming.
Pretty good dim sum, bookmarked this place for a while since my friend recommended it. A little bit far to get to in brooklyn's chinatown. Expect to wait before you get seats. I didn't see that many carts that went around, might be because we got there a little closer to 12:30pm, busy even on a weekday during lunch. You might want to ask them for the menu to bring the food out if the carts don't come by. I think the food is flavorful, but the service was a little bit questionable since we were waiting for the carts to come by for a while and it didn't feel like there was a lot of variety. There were definitely more items on the menu that they didn't bring out. Overall, I think it's good place to try once, I'm not sure if I would be back again.
went for dinner at 6:30 on a sunday. we had one of the alaskan king crabs split into 3 dishes plus a few other dishes (noodles, beef, chinese broccoli). every dish was amazing and flavorful, exactly enough for 8 people. super fast service, impressive pricing imo
Went on Sat at 9:20 am and got the last open table in the main area available. Good dim sum (steamed rice with chicken feet and spare rib) gone fast. The BBQ pork bun topping was not the best this round but the flaky BBQ is exceptional. Better get there if you don’t wanted to wait for dim sum.
It serves really authentic and traditional push cart style dim sum at all hours. Do expect a queue on weekend. You will also find extra ordinary and non typical dim sum dishes that please your appetite such as beef offal and pepper beef ribs.
